-UPDATE- Apparently this is not 1st place material. Good job, deviantART users. You've managed to prove me right yet again. Just when I thought I put more than enough effort into my art to breeze into the 1st place slot. Never again will I enter a contest.
So this is something I did for the LunarClub's contest here on dA. I wanted to try my hand at realistic-ish painting since I never get the opportunity.
The character is Hiro from Lunar Eternal Blue. I took liberties with giving him tribal band tattoos and such since you never see under his clothes.
Photo used for pose reference and light studies. Check out the full view for closer details (like on the boomerang and whatnot)
Photoshop CS4 on and off over the course of 3-4 weeks, approximately 40+ hours total
